Catholics Matter 99: Joyce Coronel on ‘A Martyr’s Crown’
Award-winning columnist Joyce Coronel joins us on this edition of Catholics Matter to discuss her amazing story of faith set ablaze by her encounter with the Chaldean Catholic Church in Arizona.
While on assignment for The Catholic Sun, Coronel discovered the story of those who have fled the violence and religious persecution in their native Iraq. She relates these stories in her new novel, “A Martyr’s Crown.”
Coronel has taken elements of her life growing up in Scottsdale and as a writer for The Catholic Sun to craft a story loosely based on the real hardships facing Chaldean Catholics living in the Middle East.
The book is the fruit of two years worth of interviews and work among the Chaldean Catholic immigrant community in Phoenix.
